I have been shut off from shopping!

So its day 3 here in Alabama. Grant made the mistake of giving me his credit card to do some shopping :) I didn't really think I did bad...I got all things that we needed but then I was shown the monthly spreadsheet and I don't think I will be allowed to do any decorative shopping for a little while (at least until next month ;p).
I have been doing some of my DIY projects to save some money. My mom and Corey helped a ton by raking out the whole back yard and pulling all the weeds...it doesn't look like much because under the years of leaves and roots there was only dirt. Its really not even worth the effort to plant grass back there or make it look nice because we will be moving from here in a little over a year. I did by a nice big houseplant and started my own little herb garden and planted some chives, basil, cilantro, and parsley!! :)
Here is a picture of Corey and I making my herb garden
Hopefully it actually grows!

I also bought 3 pieces of blank canvas and drew and painted a nice design on them for the wall behind the TV. I figured it came out really nice and I probably saved a lot of money making it instead of buying art instead.

Here is before with only the drawings

And here is after when they are all painted and hung on the wall

Not too bad huh? (they aren't really crooked its just the picture)

Tomorrow I will be waking up extra early to drive my mom and brother to the airport which is 2 hours away. We are going to have to leave by 6:30AM! I am going to be sleepy tomorrow. I am a little scared for them to go because I am going to be here all by myself all day until I get a job and Grant is only going to be getting busier and busier with flight school. I'm not that worried...I know I will be fine but its going to take a little getting used to. :)

Tonight we are going to Dothan to go see a movie or go bowling and then we are going to go out to dinner for a goodbye dinner and to celebrate Corey's birthday because I am going to be here on his birthday. I am looking forward to going out to do something fun tonight :)

Sweet Home Alabama

Well we made it!!! After 11 more hours in the car (myself driving 10.2 hours of that) and we finally got to the house. The plan from last night went almost flawless...except we left at about 7:30 instead of 7 but I cant really complain about 30 minutes difference. Today we finished our trip driving through NC, SC, all the way across GA and finally made it to AL! The drive down today went a lot better than the rainy drive yesterday. NC and SC were absolutely beautiful and we also drive right through the heart of Atlanta which was really nice.
These are from Atlanta <3

Once we crossed into Alabama I told my mother and brother about how Alabama and the areas around it in the south are known for their boiled peanuts so when we passed a little boiled peanut shack right over the boarder of Alabama we decided to give it a try. I whipped a U-turn and we pulled into the "parking lot". Once we walked in we were greeted by a man named Buck. Buck was probably about 65 years young and was loving life selling boiled peanuts in his shack. He proceeded to tell us that he was in the army for about 25 years before he bought the piece of land we were standing on and had been selling peanuts on the side of the road for about 15 years now. Buck seemed to be absolutely content with what he was doing and wasn't going anywhere fast! Before we left he had asked what we were doing here from NH and when he found out I was living here...he quickly invited me to come back and spend the day or even the night with him! (after all we were :new neighbors, only 100 miles down the road) He told me he had a room out back that I could sleep in if I got tired and couldn't drive home. I like to think Buck wasn't trying to be creepy and just being a sweet older gentleman. We left Bucks shack with a bag full of boiled peanuts for $2 plus I left him a little tip. I came to discover that I really don't like boiled peanuts...they taste like beans!!

Well we got to the house about 2 hours after our little peanut adventure and boy was I absolutely done with driving!! We unpacked some of the car but we still have to take everything off the top and then unpack everything inside...I am dreading putting all my clothes away! Grant came home about 2 hours after we got here and I was so excited to see him! I made some pizza for dinner and we gobbled that all down...I think he appreciated being able to come home and have dinner already made for him! :) I have to say I really don't mind playing house :)
^^ One of the beautiful southern houses :)

I got a call for a job interview on the way down so I am going to call them back tomorrow and see if they can schedule me in tomorrow for an interview!! The other plan for tomorrow is to go to Dothan to do some shopping for the apartment and get some decorations! We also have a nice DIY plan for the backyard to try to make it usable because it is an absolute weed and leave pit right now. I will post some nice before and after pictures once we get something done to it.
Alright well I am absolutely exhausted. I am so happy to be sleeping in my own house tonight!!! :)
Will write again soon!

Made it to Virginia

Whew we made it to Virginia! A little over 12 hours down  in a VERY packed car... about 11 hours to go until we make it to Alabama!! Today we passed through NH, MA, CT, NY, PA, a tiny bit of MD, West Virginia, and finally most of Virginia. I drove the whole way...my mother says its because I am a control freak (which I can't really argue with). We are staying at the Howard Johnson Hotel tonight...its not bad for a $50 place to just sleep for the night. Tomorrow will be a very early morning!! I will have my mother and brother up at 6AM to shower and out the door by 6:45 for a quick continental breakfast and out the door by 7!
I think the military might be rubbing off on me a little too much! ;)

I am soooo excited to see the boy tomorrow night and finally be DONE with driving! I only had one crying fit today as we were leaving NH listening to the CD mix Meghan and Caitlin made for me...heard the song "She'sFrom Boston" by Kenny Chesney and absolutely lost it. I just realized all at once how much I am going to miss all my friends and family and how I much I love them!! To calm myself down I had to think that I will be back in May and I have skype, facetime, facebook, twitter, and just cellphones and computers in general to keep me connected to all my friends and family!
...So you will NEVER get rid of me! haha ;p

Alright well I am exhausted and its going to be a very early start in the morning!
Goodnight!!!!! :D

Less than a week :)

Can't believe that in less than in a week I will be driving somewhere around Virginia and halfway to Alabama! Just got back from a girls weekend at Foxwoods!!! Now its time to buckle down, get my life in order, and start packing (who are we kidding I have already started packing). I've got a big pile of stuff starting to accumulate in the garage and so much more to pack. I also need to try to see my friends before I leave because I am going to miss everyone soooo much!!!
Job search is still happening...got one response today from a hiring company so its something. Just gotta keep on trucking on! Its really the only response I have had so far at all in about a month of looking so....that sucks haha
Its like why do people post jobs at all if they have no intentions of even emailing you back at all? Even if its just to say no...it would be better than nothing at all right? idk maybe that's just my opinion!
So excited for this week to just fly by!! Doing some odd jobs around the house to try to get some last minute money for the ride down. I have also been checking the sofa cushions for spare change!! haha I am pathetic. Got about $30 so far though so not bad!

Alrighty well next time I post I will most likely going to be on the road!!!!!

2 Weeks until the big move!

Well then. Where to start. Lets start with...
I am SO ready to get out of my home town, out of my parents house, and into the real world! Don't get me wrong...I love my family but after 4 years of college and then moving home this past month has not been an easy transition. I am constantly being told... "you will miss this Alie" or "Slow down, you have the rest of your life ahead of you" or anyone ever hear this..."the real world sucks"? well OF COURSE it sucks!! It doesn't change the fact that I still want to be in it and not stuck living at home.
Anyway moving on... today my mother and brother booked their one way tickets home to Logan. So there it is, the dates are set! I will be setting off on my journey down to Alabama on January 23rd!!
Job search is going...bad! Who knew their were so many job scams on Craig's List. Life lesson learned...don't search for jobs on that site! All I know is I better be able to find some friends down there because with boyfriend in the Military and all the hours he has to put into flight school I am going to need plenty of wine time and ladies nights!!

Alright well off to bed for me...so much to do and so little time left!!

14 Days to go!
